Milwaukee: 4th WITS in a row

I had the pleasure of speaking at my 4th annual WITS (Women In Travel Summit) and I couldn’t be happier!

It’s also my first time in Milwaukee!

Wanderlust Hostel needs YOUR help!

As you all know, I am opening a hostel in Houston, Texas summer 2017 and we need your help!
The hostel will sleep 40 people and be located within a 10 minute walking distance from the Houston Metro system. In order for me to secure a particular piece of property, I have to get certifications, licenses, and pay certain taxes which totals about $5,000. I started my campaign  Wanderlust Houston Hostel  to raise this money and I have a little over 35 days to get it done.
So where do you and others come into play:
1) Donation
2) Sponsor
3) Invest
1) A donation is a short term gift towards the major goal of 5k! All donations help overall!
2) Sponsor: If you are looking to receive a tax write off and sponsor a business, this is a great opportunity! You will sponsor at least half of the project ($2,500) and receive free hostel stays, a spot on the hostels website for the first 2 years of operation, and you will be able to name one of the rooms at the hostel!
3) Invest! If you are willing to invest the total project of $5,000 the owner (Deidre Mathis) will be willing to discuss a payback schedule (i.e. 1% of gross income for the first 6 months of the hostel openings PLUS the initial investment. The hostel is currently projected to profit $275,000 in the first 6 months which makes your payback: $7,750 ($5,000 PLUS $2,750)
Thanks for your time!

Earlier this month I got the amazing opportunity to speak to women at the Women’s Travel Fest conference in New York City. This was my 3rd time attending the conference and my 2nd time speaking!

I spoke about budget traveling and gave all the women easy and helpful tips to help them secure the most fabulous budget travel trips!

If you have never attended this conference and you are a woman who loves to travel, make sure you put it on your agenda for 2017. The speakers give so much wealth of knowledge and the networking is amazing!

If you have any questions, let me know and I will be happy to help! In the meantime, make sure you follow me on Instagram: deidreworldwide

Bean Town Fun!

DSC_1909 DSC_1914 DSC_1917

This weekend I had the pleasure of visiting Boston for the first time ever to attend the second Women In Travel Summit (WITS) Conference.

During my short visit to Bean Town, I got to visit Harvard’s campus, visit the Original Cheers bar and have authentic Clam Chowder soup and I got to mix and mingle and meet women from all over the world during the conference at the Revere Hotel.

During the conference, I was able to not only be a sponsor of WITS, I got to promote my book, “Wanderlust: For The Young, Broke Professional,” a budget travel book that gives creative ways to go abroad and make money while living on a budget.  (www.wanderlustybp.com)

Over the weekend I had a few professional development thoughts that I would love to share with you all:

1) Please attend professional conferences in your field, it is a great way to meet people, network, and grow and explore.

2) Map out your goals step by step and make it happen! Stop with the excuses.

3) Make sure your online presence is there! People should be able to Google you and find out exactly what you are about

4) If ever in Boston, you HAVE to try to Boston Baked Beans at the Cheers restaurant! They are amazing.

Hope these tips helps you all!
